Cure Kids USA

Cure Kids USA is now an established charity that will extend the successful model developed by Cure Kids New Zealand. It will raise funds to support cutting-edge research, development and commercialisation of new medicines, diagnostics, devices, educational programmes and other products and services that will provide better solutions for childhood diseases and disorders.

Cure Kids USA will take advantage of the United States’ leading role in biotechnology and pharmaceuticals to help get New Zealand medicines and devices to market, as well as actively seeking research collaborations and funding between the two countries.

The Chairman and CEO of Cure Kids New Zealand visited the USA in 2010 as we believe the USA holds infinite opportunity for the organisation – for research collaborations, funding collaborations and fundraising.

While there they met with a number of potential collaborative funders of Cure Kids research and their initial meetings have proved positive.  One outcome is a joint funding agreement between the Children with Diabetes Foundation and Cure Kids. The two organisations have agreed to support the final phase of the clinical trial of DIABECELL for Type 1 Diabetes in 2011.  Professor Bob Elliott says of this joint funding:

“This support from two foundations located thousands of miles apart but with a common vision is a testament to the realisation that DIABECELL is on its way to becoming the first real promise for an ultimate cure – my lifetime ambition - for this difficult condition which affects so many of our children and adults over the world.”
