ALL OFF FOR THE KIDS...

15 July - David from Briscoes Invercargill has just had the big beard shave for Cure Kids! We'd like to thank David for being such a great sport and offering up his facial hair for the kids, raising $391.. and still going! Now……. as part of the deal David had agreed to each $25 raised representing a month clean shaven, this now means that this $391 raised will equate to him needing to remain clean shaven for a period of 15.5 months, Yeah!
So the beard must remain off now until the end of November 2011

Fabulous work!!!

GO WELLINGTON, Over $3000 raised for Cure Kids in Street Appeal...

Wow, despite havoc on the trains, Julian (Briscoes Homeware Taranaki St) and Simon (Rebel Sport James Smiths) and their fabulous team braved the cold and collected over $3000 for Cure Kids in their street appeal. Thank you Wellington - we think you are all Absolutely Positively Fabulous!!!

How to raise over $3,000...

Well as you know we did a street a appeal, we had to organise the number of staff for the day, organise where the staff had to stand on the streets, get approval from the Wellington city council, we had to organise how we were going to collect the money in small bucket or big bucket, we went with the big bucket drilled a hole in the top and taped down the lid, then started talking to Angela from Cure kids who was a big help, she mentioned if we could get a little piece in the local paper (Capital Times) I phone CT’s and they said yes we will put a story together for you, I gave CT’s Cure Kids info and logo and two days before our street appeal the story went out to the people in Wellington, it helped because some people had seen the article in the CT’s, then Angela send us some official collectors bib’s nice and bright, we got stickers left over from last year so when people made a donation we gave them a sticker. We had organised 8 staff to stand at the train station, you wouldn’t believe it, all of the power to the trains that day had blown no trains running all I can say is “dam you to hell Murphy’s law” the staff kept on collecting and you wouldn’t believe it we collected for the day $3,200.

You wait till next year we are going to double that “BIG CALL”

I would like to thank all of the staff that collected that day it was cold.
