| on its own thanks to support from suppliers high jacked by Margaret and other team members. Barbeque Bill volunteered the use of his equipment and family members for the sausage sizzle ably assisted by William. This alone raised over $1000. Cure Kids ambassador William Currie had the very important job of issuing tomato sauce to the sausages and receiving the donations. Briscoe Group have raised nearly $200 000 for the Add a Dollar campaign in 2008 – a truly phenomenal effort!! |

Pumpkin Patch, The Palms
came to work in their pyjamas yesterday to raise money for Cure Kids.
An ingenious idea to encourage customers to add a dollar for Cure Kids and enter the “guess the teddy’s birthday” competition during the July school holidays. The store found that customers had given to the Add a Dollar campaign at other participating stores within the mall or elsewhere and came up with this idea to encourage them to give again.
Congratulations to Eirwen and the team, looking very snuggly in their pj’s!! |

Margaret determined to do it again for the kids!
Add a Dollar 2007 Super Hero, Margaret from Briscoes Homeware Dunedin, and her husband Brian attended Cure Kids Ticket to Hope in June enjoying a weekend of fun and activities with 15 children living with a life threatening illness. Margaret told us that after meeting the children she was now fired up to do even more for the kids and felt inspired by their energy and positive attitudes. Dunedin Briscoes Homeware are out in front again in 2008, raising over $2000 in the first week of the campaign. Margaret has sent out a huge challenge to all other Briscoes Homeware Stores encouraging them to all be Super Heros and win the privilege to attend Ticket to Hope as she found the experience ' life changing' Thanks Margaret, our kids thought you were pretty awesome too!!!
Cure Kids Champion hard at work
Just to fill you in on what a fantastic job our cure kids champion has been organizing, Tina has been in contact with classic hits and they are keen to come on board and hopefully provide a bbq for some extra advertising and fundraising free of charge. She has also been in contact with the mad butcher and couplands bakery and they are both very keen to help us out with the cause. Just to add to this we have managed to get hold of a Teddy bear and Ladybug costumes from a local dressup place which gave us a very good price for the hiring. We have been given permission from the Hub (hornby mall next door) to set up a site to raise yet more money again, free of charge. We are hoping that paper plus in the mall will help us out by donating supplies for face painting for the kids.

What Cure Kids is all about.
This month stores are appealing to the generosity of shoppers, asking them to open their wallets a little wider and add a dollar to their purchase in support of the charity Cure Kids.
Throughout July stores participating in the Cure Kids 'Add a Dollar' campaign, which is raising money to fund crucial, life-saving medical research for New Zealand children. The nationwide bid asks shoppers to help seriously ill Kiwi children by adding $1 to their next purchase at any store.
Cure Kids is the face of the Child Health Research Foundation, which has invested more than $21 million in medical research into life-threatening childhood illnesses in New Zealand since it was founded three decades ago.
Cure Kids Business Development Director Mandy Groube said the charity was delighted to be working with Briscoe Group, Crane Distribution, Harvey Norman, Life Pharmacy, Paperplus Group & Pumpkin Patch to give a valuable boost to Cure Kids' research projects. "One hundred percent of all funds raised will go to research, helping to save hundreds of children's lives and improving the quality of life for thousands more.
"This helps children like Christopher North, who lives with asthma; Jorja Sharp, who lives with burns; Cherokee Sagisagi, who lives with a brain tumour; Sam Stevens, who lives with cystic fibrosis, and Olivia Burgess, who lives with diabetes. Every one of them, and thousands of Kiwi kids like them, benefits from Cure Kids' research projects. We are very grateful to the companies for their support."
Lyle Hastings, Marketing Manager for the Paper Plus Group, said his team was galvanized by the opportunity to support a worthy charity. "We are proud to be backing such an important cause, and we'd love to have our shoppers 'add a dollar' to Cure Kids when they visit Paper Plus or Take Note in July."
