Cherokee

Thirteen year-old Cherokee was first diagnosed with a malignant tumour in her central nervous system. Since then further tumours have been found in her abdomen and brain. The tumor in her brain is inoperable. Cherokee also has no pituitary gland function which affects her growth.

She is attending Northern Health School in Auckland for half a day only and loves being at school. She is quite popular with her teachers and amongst her peers!!!

Through Cure Kids she was able to attend the New Zealand 2007 Qantas TV Awards show alongside the very handsome Brendan Pongia, a famous New Zealand television star and present the Cure Kids Best Children’s Programme Award, the highlight of her year!!!

She's still SpongeBob Squarepants number 1 all time fan, loves listening, singing and dancing to Hip Hop music!! Cherokee enjoys kicking back with her younger brother Cuba-Lennox(9) playing games on their PS2, and laughing heaps while jumping on the trampoline!!

Cherokee has 3 older siblings brothers Kingston 19, Bronson 18 and sister Cheyenne 17. Mum and Kingston enjoy working for TIP TOP ICECREAM on the factory floor and Dad works tirelessly for Works Infrastructure in commercial building.

Cure Kids is funding ground breaking research into a vaccine for brain tumours. Although this vaccine may not be available in time for Cherokee, it gives her and her family hope that other children in the future may not have to go through all the operations, heartache, and pain that Cherokee continually lives with.
