Tamilla
Tamilla is eleven years old and was diagnosed with leukaemia seven years ago, after bruising showed up on her legs.
She underwent chemotherapy which caused severe side effects including hair loss, blood clots in her mouth, and general sickness. For four months she was in hospital. She gave up eating at times and was fed by tube to keep her strength up.
After the third cycle of chemotherapy Tamilla went into remission but completed three more cycles of chemotherapy. The treatment took its toll on Tamilla and her family, but today, she is one of the 70% of children whose leukaemia goes into remission.
As her mother Melanie says, we feel so fortunate to be part of the Cure Kids family and as an ambassador, Tamilla has had so many wonderful opportunities.
