Frances Everall Frances is 8 years old; she was diagnosed with stage 4 Neuroblastoma at 4 years old. Neuroblastoma is a malignant tumour that develops from nerve tissue and is most commonly diagnosed in children before the age of 5. Her diagnosis led to extensive chemotherapy treatment, 8 hours of surgery and a bone marrow transplant which was followed by several months of radiotherapy. While Frances is now in remission, her treatment for the Neuroblastoma resulted in chronic renal disease, hearing loss and low energy levels. She is currently under the care of renal, endocrinology, oncology and dental specialists. Frances lives in Auckland with her parents, two older brothers, one older sister, three family cats and a dog. Despite a tough start to life, Frances is a happy little girl who loves horse-riding, face-painting, art, reading and playing with her Polly Pockets. |
