Nine year old James Tonks of Auckland has lived with heart disease since birth. He underwent surgery on his arteries at just four days old. Due to a narrowing of one of the arteries an attempt was made to correct it by balloon catheter. However, there was subsequent narrowing, and when he was almost three he had surgery again to correct the problem.
He lives with his mother Susie and younger brothers David, Andrew, two ragdoll cats Sally and Jessie and two rabbits Rockbunny and Daisy.
James loves playing with his Lego and PSP, jumping on the trampoline, bike riding and playing ball. He takes part in everything at school including the cross country despite his heart condition.
