Liam Todd

Liam Todd.jpgTen year old Liam was five years old when his dad died of a brain tumour. Only two years later, Liam was diagnosed with a tumour in his Maxillary Sinus which is located beneath the cheeks, above the teeth and on either sides of the nose.

Liam’s condition was very rare - only 23 people in the world are known to have suffered from this type of tumour. He had his entire jaw and sinus cavity removed in a 10-hour operation and his face was reconstructed using bone from his leg. Liam continues to have CT scans and x-rays every three months and is blind in one eye, but has now been disease free for two years.

He currently lives in Waikanae, in Wellington, with his mum Rebecca and little sister Ashleigh.

Liam loves sport and has not been held back by his medical issues. He plays under-10’s rugby for Waikanae and enjoys playing the guitar and reading.
