David Reid Homes and Cure Kids

David Reid Homes first began its links with Cure Kids in 2005 when they built a house in 24 hours, during Wanakafest, which helped raise $179,000 for the charity.

David Reid Homes has since committed to three buildathon projects during the next six years to raise funds for Cure Kids.

The locations will alternate between the North and South Islands. The first project will be in Christchurch, during the Royal New Zealand Show, on November 12 and 13 this year.

Cure Kids South Island Funding Manager Josie Spillane says its relationship with David Reid Homes is going from strength to strength.

“David Reid Homes’ decision to make us their charity of choice will go a long way toward helping us achieve our medical research goals,” she says.

“The Buildathon project has already proven to be a success. Christchurch’s first Buildathon house will be a three bedroom home, built over two days, to the same specifications as the Wanaka house. An open day will be held on November 14 followed by a no reserve auction,” she added.

The auction will be part of a gala event that willl feature high profile band OpShop. Young Cure Kids ambassadors, including Jessica Clark of Christchurch, who suffers from leukaemia, will also be there in support of everyone involved.

David Reid Homes (Canterbury) Ltd Managing Director Kendall Langston says the company is proud to be involved with Cure Kids and give something back to the community.

“We are delighted to be able to support such a worthy cause by raising money for medical research that will help Kiwi families. The initial response from our suppliers and contractors has been great, and the David Reid Homes Canterbury team is looking forward to getting in to full swing to construct a fantastic house for the auction.”

Ben Allan, Managing Director of David Reid Homes (National), says building homes for New Zealand families is what they do best.

“Building homes for Kiwi families is in our blood so what better way to give back, than to build a house to raise funds to support Cure Kids. Maybe in a small way we can help lighten the load for children with an illness,” he says.

David Reid Homes has been in business since 1993. It has grown from a local building company into one of the largest in the country by specialising in custom built houses that reflect the individuality of their owners.David Reid Homes now has 23 franchises, all privately owned and operated, and all are Registered Master Builders.
