The points have been tallied and the winners of the Accor Hotels $10 Queenstown Challenge are... (drum role please!)
1st Place: Eva’s Angels
2nd Place: All Shook Up
3rd Place: Eighties Babies
Top Fundraiser: Eighties Babies (Fairfax) with $17,683.78
Best Dressed Team: Angry Birds
Spirit of the Race: Tiffany Mitchell (Eva’s Angels).
The Spirit of the Race award goes to a competitor who we feel most embodies Cure Kids and embraces what the event is all about. We were so inspired by Tiff, a mother who has been living at Ronald McDonald House for the past 4 years. For the first time in those 4 years, Tiff left her daughters for the three days of the event, throwing herself wholeheartedly into every challenge and activity that came her way. She became friends with everyone she met along the way, and was an inspiration to all the crew and competitors. We were privileged to have her on the event!
Thanks to our competitors, Clued Up and all of the wonderful folks that picked up our hitchhikers last weekend. We met some lovely people along the way – we hope to see you again next year!

The teams have made it across the finish line safe and sound! Their last challenge was to form a drum band and bang their way to the Pullman from Albert Park. Some had never picked up an instrument before! We think they did pretty darn well, and most are now relaxing with a drink poolside at the Pullman. :)
We’ll post the official standings soon, thanks for following us!

The teams are in route to Bombay now after being diverted due to a Santa Parade in Huntly. All are picking up rides and making their way to Bombay for a final challenge. We can’t wait to see them as they cross the finish line! And can imagine some of those costumes might need a dry cleaning!
Here is another fun photo from last night. Every day the teams have a challenge that involves this fuzzy little bear. The winner of the challenge carries the bear as their trophy and last night team Friday Pieday decided he needed a mini makeover!

Teams were off early this morning at 6:30am...but not before a dance lesson! Team Angry Birds warmed up the teams this morning by teaching everyone their signature chicken dance. Classic! The teams are now at Redwood Forest for a biking challenge and then off for more hitchhiking.
Be sure to check our Facebook page for more photos, we've uploaded heaps more from yesterday!

These teams have all finally arrived in Rotorua safe and sound! They did a fantastic job hitchhiking today – thanks to the cops, couriers and wonderful people that picked up our competitors. Check out the final photos of our competitors arriving in Rotorua on Facebook.
Here is a special one of Eva’s Angels as they arrived at the Ibis – Victory Hug!!

From Hunterville to Taihape and then Waiouru Army Base to Turangi (phew!) the teams are now heading to Rotorua for the night. We have heard rumours that Eva’s Angels are in the lead but it’s still anyone’s game! The cops have definitely been out today picking up our hitchhiking teams. Bored maybe??
Team Friday Pieday just answered a text quiz question for an extra 3 points. What is it about citronella that mosquitoes dislike? Do you know the answer??

4 teams have made it past the first challenge in Hunterville – Eighties Babies, Qantas Pink Ladies, Peter Pan & Tinkerbell and Eva’s Angels. All are on the way to challenge #2!
Random Act of Kindness:
A lovely lady called Sherry, who owns Dominos in Levin, picked up the Qantas Pink Ladies from Mana, phoned through to her store to order pizza, which they picked up on the way through then decided to take them all the way to Hunterville!!

Team Santa's Little Helpers got rides from 2 different policemen
The Bunnies scored a flight from AKL to CHC for their ambassador and parent for next year's Zoo Day!
Team K Derby Dolls scored a drink and a feed from "Dave" who apparently is a "Top Bloke." We'd like to meet Dave!
It’s getting competitive out there and our teams should be reaching their first challenge in Huntersville soon. Stay tuned for updates and more photos!
