About the RaceGoing into its 9th year, the Cure Kids Great Adventure Race has made its mark as a thrilling multi-discipline event in both the North and South Islands. Challenging and rewarding, this 6- 9 hour race requires competitors to navigate, bike, traverse waterways and run in teams of 4 with a support crew of 4 to help fundraise and assist all the way to the finish line. Race Director Alan Nelson created the Cure Kids Great Adventure Race concept and has directed the race since its inception. Alan has an excellent reputation in the world of multisport. The race is developed to appeal to novice adventure racers but also challenges experienced racers to test their limits. New race courses are designed every year to ensure each event is fresh, unique and presents that “journey of discovery” nature of adventure racing. Spectacular areas within our national and regional parks are selected and combined wherever possible with the special opportunity to explore adjoining private lands.
