2011 Winners
The 2011 event was a great success, raising over $260,000 for Cure Kids. Our 25 teams put in an amazing effort, with PricewaterhouseCoopers, who won the Champion Fundraiser trophy, raising a spectacular $40,000.
This money means that we can continue funding research into life-threatening illnesses that affect children, and may even be the money that finds our next cure.
Congratulations to the winners of the race, ‘The Auditeers’ from PricewaterhouseCoopers, and the winners of the informal team category ‘The Young and the Restless’. Both teams completed the race in less than 7 hours!
South Island Race
Unfortunately, due to the devastation in Christchurch on February 22
nd, the South Island event was cancelled.
All of the money that has been raised for the cancelled Cure Kids Great Adventure Race South Island 2011 will be utilised to:

Offer support to Professor Brian Darlow and his team as they continue their life saving work in the neo-natal ward in Christchurch – work that is especially needed at this time as many babies are born prematurely at times of trauma

Help our 10 Christchurch ambassadors and their families. We are giving them escape weekend packages with vouchers for accommodation, fuel and food. They can then get away from Christchurch as a family when they want and have a few days of family, friendship, security and, most importantly, hope

Help other Christchurch based children who live with a life-threatening illness and their families. We will work with Ronald McDonald House, Paediatric Oncology and other wards to see how we can assist them as we learn more about the needs of the children currently being treated in Christchurch hospital and the specific needs of their families.
We hope to bring the South Island race back in 2013 and continue to support our Cantabrians in any way we can.
