The 2008 Photokids Contest has raised $10,000 for Cure Kids and attracted intense interest around the country, with thousands of votes being cast to decide the winner. The contest is now in its 14th year and during that time over $320,000 has been raised for Cure Kids.
The national portrait contest is held annually and this year has been won for the fifth time by Auckland photographer John Cowan whose winning subject was Talon Shelford who was 2yrs 10 months at the time the photograph was taken.
Over 340 photographs entered in the Photokids Contest which were displayed in shopping malls around New Zealand, where votes were cast to choose regional finalists in 12 separate categories. The 12 National winners were selected by internet voting. |
