Photokids Portrait Contest
Kyla Pearce (20 Months) of Buckland’s Beach,
shown above, has won the top prize of a $5000 overseas family holiday
in the 2005 Photokids Portrait Contest National final judged from
over 400 entries. Her natural bright-eyed personality was captured
by local photographer John Cowan of Howick. This is the third time
he has won the national contest for children’s portraiture
which is judged by the public.
Now in its ninth year this Photokids Portrait
Contest raises funds for Cure Kids. Entries are now being
accepted for the 2006 competition by phoning John Cowan (09)
534 9163. The contest is open to boys and girls from birth
to nineteen years including multiple births. Each contestant
receives a creative portrait session in colour or black and
white for $30 - from which parents choose an image to enter
into the contest.
Twenty dollars from the entry fee goes to
the Child Health Research Foundation (Cure Kids) for vital
medical research which benefits all New Zealand children.
