More About the Cure Kids Great Adventure Race
How difficult is the race?
Race Director Alan Nelson, develops the race to appeal to novice adventure racers but also challenges experienced racers to test their limits. New race courses are designed and developed every year to ensure each event is fresh, unique and presents that “journey of discovery” nature of adventure racing. Spectacular areas within our national and regional parks are selected and combined wherever possible with the special opportunity to explore adjoining private lands.

- How did you convince 7 others to join you in team/support crew?
- Was it hard to fit training around full time job and personal commitments?
- How did you tackle the fundraising?
How many people are involved per team?
This one day event is a great team builder, where four people commit to physically training for the event while the other four take control of the fundraising. On the day, the fundraising team becomes the all important support crew, ferrying bikes and gear to transition areas and setting up the team marquee at the finish line for the celebrations!
Do all team members have to be from the same company?
Most teams enter the Corporate category where all team members are from the same company, including a male and female in each team. There's also an Informal Classic category which allows for groups of friends and for the first time, 2010 race allows for all male or all female teams, just in the informal category. Note, while we have a prize for first Informal team, these teams are not elligible for main prizes or sort after race trophy!
Can Cure Kids help us raise $10,000 per team?
$10,000 entry fee may sound a lot but with the support of our experienced fundraising managers you will find the task becomes a lot of fun!! We supply you with a fundraising booklet with loads of ideas for simple and quick fundraising ideas. Cure Kids staff and Ambassadors are also on hand to speak at your events to help share our story with your audience.
How is the fundraising money used?
We have raised over $2.6m in the last six years boosting our research efforts in a number of key areas including Long QT syndrome, Asthma and childhood cancers to name a few.
The funds raised from this event make a huge difference to the lives of the 20,000 families who have children living with life threatening illnesses. For more information on the research funded by Cure Kids, please click here.
It's one day, it's for the kids and it’s an awesome team challenge.
