| Dalton switches boats to Cure Kids |
9 May 2008
Grant Dalton temporarily abandoned preparations for the next Americas Cup to launch the Cure Kids Last Race donation hotline today.
To help launch the Cure Kids Last Race hotline, Dalton took the new Cure Kids Superboat for a test-drive before it competed in the last race of the 2008 Cougar Marine Inex Metals Offshore Powerboat |
 |
Championship season. Also on the water was 13-year-old Samuel Blow, from Auckland, who has the rare hereditary disorder Marfan Syndrome, and the owner of the Cure Kids Superboat, Tony Coleman.
The public can dial 0900 CURE K (287 35) to donate $20 to Cure Kids. The hotline was launched to coincide with the last weekend of the Offshore racing season and will continue until the end of May.
Tony Coleman, co pilot of the Cure Kids Superboat was very proud to finish second overall in the NZ Powerboat championship behind winner, Sleepyhead held at Westhaven, Auckland on May 10th. |
 |
| It has been a very successful first season for the Cure Kids Superboat having one win, three second places and two third place finishes. |

|
In 2008 Cure Kids has been given the fantastic opportunity to have a 'Super Boat' named for them and racing in the offshore power boat series.
These boats are big, fast and exciting and draw crowds of thousands at each event. The racing also gets significant media coverage, including print and TV for the six month period from January to June. This will allow us to raise money and build on the profile of Cure Kids. |
 |
You could speed on the water for Cure Kids too
We have also been given a chance to join in the fun and excitement by auctioning rides in the Formula Honda Boat at the NZ Offshore Race days in Gulf Harbour, Maraetai, Tauranga And Whitianga, with the proceeds going to cure kids.....
