Jonathan Skinner is children’s heart rhythm specialist at Starship Children’s Hospital, Auckland, New Zealand, and Honorary Professor in Paediatrics Child and Youth Health at Auckland University. He established and leads the national arrhythmia service for children, the New Zealand national inherited heart disease registry and the multidisciplinary investigative service of young sudden unexplained death.

In 2017 Jon chairs the genetic council of the Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand and is an editorial board member of the influential medical journal Heart Rhythm. He has authored 110 peer reviewed scientific articles, with a focus on cardiac ion channelopathies such as long QT syndrome, a text book and several chapters in various medical texts.

He qualified in medicine in Leicester, and trained in the UK, Germany and Australia, before arriving in New Zealand in 1998.
